Biography

Loïc Vaillancourt

A proud collaborator of several established Montréal directors, including Véronique Côté and Michel-Maxime Legault, Loïc Vaillancourt stands out for his deep and holistic understanding of the worlds he creates. With an exceptional general culture, he succeeds in grasping the historical and social context of the works and skillfully transposing them into our contemporary reality. His main fields of expertise are lighting and set design.

Loïc Vaillancourt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Scenography from the École Supérieure de Théâtre de l'UQÀM (graduated in June 2025). Even before completing his studies, he had the opportunity to explore all aspects of scenography through collaborations with various theatre companies, including Les Productions Multisens, Théâtre Harpagon, and Tapis Rouge. He notably contributed to sound, costume, and props design for their projects.

Almost all the directors and scenographers who have had the chance to work with Loïc have sought his collaboration again, as he is a friendly and diplomatic team player, with an excellent sense of humor and unwavering composure. Both creative and pragmatic, he knows how to turn challenges into opportunities for growth.

In his work as a technical director, for instance, at Fringe Montréal and the Cabarets d’essais de l'École Supérieure de Théâtre de l'UQÀM, Loïc drew upon his design skills to create bold yet harmonious lighting, to the great satisfaction of the participating artists. Through these experiences, he has also engaged with the worlds of dance, music, and in situ installation.

Loïc Vaillancourt is a sensitive artist with a remarkable creative spirit. He is currently available and open to artistic proposals of all kinds. Building on his experience in the performing arts, he aspires to further develop his practice in the fields of dance, music, theatre, and live events.
